The knot doesn't care how you make it. The thread just wants to be lace.
Welcome to where lace and music intersect.
As a child growing up in Oregon, Melanie fell in love with the pipe organ. After a few years studying piano, she began her adventure on the organ bench. As a teen, she discovered tatting with a shuttle. It helped pass the time while riding in a car or waiting for rehearsal time. Later, after completing her degree at the University of Michigan, she began performing as an organist. While playing organs in France and across the U.S., she still found time for fiber, learning to weave and stitch. While raising her children, she rediscovered tatting lace, and, with encouragement and support from her husband and family, Melanie began creating unique tatting based on musical compositions. Now, she happily teaches organ and tatting while creating unique art from her home town in the Monterey Bay Area of California.
